Amputees have long been a bi-product of armed conflict.
Whether a soldier that stepped on a landmine or a civilian disabled by bomb dropped from a plane, amputees have long been created due to war.
Amputees not created from war, often feel at a loss to stop the further creation of amputees due to war. Several organisations have been created, some military based, civilian based, some survivor based. however, the significant majority of amputees were not created by armed conflict; this does not lessen the need to reduce or stop amputees being created in this way.
The goal of Amputees for Peace is to make public the senseless creation of amputees due to war and subsequently reduce the number of amputees due to war.
We can accomplish this goal in the following ways:
1. Take part in global peace rallies - making sure prosthetic limbs are present for all to see.
2. Create media events that involve amputees, prosthetic parts and show photos of those of us created by war
3. Join similar peace coalitions around the world in order to find common interests
4. Develop a contact list of amputees around the world who are interested in furthering the goals of Amputees for Peace.
