WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING..."I can't remember the last time I had so much fun at a show. After hearing rave reviews from colleagues, I went to check out Mr. M and the All Nighters at the Lamplighter last month. What a great show - there was so much energy coming from this band. They gave a performance that celebrated the audience - made them want to smile and dance. No egos here, just confidence, resulting in music anyone could enjoy. 'Higher and Higher' and 'Seven Day Fool' were some of the set's highlights. I'm excited to see Mr M and the All Nighters again."Megan Lau, Vancouver Mr M and the All Nighters took the stage and played a great set of soul, funk, and r & b music, and covered a couple songs too including "Tainted Love" with success. The band had a unique setup with 3 singers that interestingly all had very different voices. Mr M and the All Nighters were able to sound great even without having to stick to this traditional formula maybe in part because of the kind of music they were playing. Mr. & the All Nighters had us all up dancing to some of our favourite tunes from such greats as James Brown and Dusty Springfield. They call their music Northern Soul. It combines the best of soul music, rhythm & blues and good old rock & roll. The band is tight and consistently "in the groove" with two great vocalists, talented lead and bass guitarists, a terrific brass section and a drummer who holds it all together. Mr. M. & the All Nighters provided lots of fun and fine music for the evening. I'm looking forward to seeing them again. Mr M and the All Nighters
Mr M and The All Nighters are a Vancouver based Northern Soul TRIBUTE band. Our philosophy is based on the British Northern Soul tradition of a foot stomping beat together with lots of dancing.We are a dynamic tribute to the classic era of soul from 1962 - 1972. Expect to hear musical tributes to Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Etta James, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Gloria Jones, Curtis Mayfield and many more. We also like to combine the more popular soul with rare soul, so you will also hear rare performances of Pat Powdrill's stomper "Do It", Mary Love's "Lay this Burden Down" and a rockin' version of Willie Mitchell's "That Driving Beat". We are also working on the rarest northern soul record ever, soon to be in our set, hint the original 45 sells for over £10,000
We have played many locations in Vancouver and Burnaby. In the last 12 months we have headlined at the Railway, The Fairview and shared billing at the Lamplighter, ANZA and WISE Clubs. We also like to get to smaller, intimate settings at Cafe Deux Soleils and The Purple Crab on a regular basis. We are looking to expand geographically and look forward to taking classic Northern Soul to the masses of North America, eventually the UK and Europe. Our goal is to one day record a classic soul album at Willie Mitchell's Royal Studio in Memphis, TN
Our current line up includes a full horn section, guitar, bass, keyboards and drums and vocals. We will however, edit the band line-up to suit your venue.
